In 2018, during a Friends of Madagascar Education Mission Trip, Dr. Elson and Hanitra insisted that we visit this school in Antsirabe. It was an impressive physical campus and the program itself was also impressive. The school was founded by the Norwegian Mission Society and had been funded by them and a mission society organization in Germany. Funding from both of these organizations had decreased to a trickle and the staff (not the teachers as they are paid by the government) were not paid or had their salary greatly reduced.
The Executive Director had not received any salary for 4 years. Friends of Madagascar’s Executive Director, David Lerseth, asked to pray with him after touring the campus and did not promise Friends of Madagascar Mission could support the school, but promised that Friends of Madagascar Mission would keep praying. In 2021, Friends of Madagascar Mission gave a gift of $5,000.00 and since that time for the last 2 years have supported the school with $15,000.00 or one half of the total cost for maintaining the student’s life (not the education costs).
