Recent news reports from Madagascar are disturbing because there are many riots happening around the country, mostly in the large urban areas. The issue is complicated and each group has their own complaints, but the central issue is the government’s lack of concern for the people. They are rioting to tell the government they were promised better living conditions regarding the supply of water and electricity. The water is not safe and the supply of electricity is minimal each day. Blackouts are very common and can last for several hours.
