The history of water availability in the arid region is through shallow wells that produce limited water and often contaminated water. The reason these wells run dry is due to a limited rainy season. There is a need to drill through the hard granite which lies beneath the shallow topsoil and, until now, they have only been able to hand dig the wells and not go through the granite.
Now FOMM has a joint agreement of understanding with Madagascar Water Project which has equipment that drills through the hard granite very quickly and within 20 to 50 meters. With electronic equipment to locate fissures in the rocks, they are able to avoid dry wells and find streams of water that gush out of the earth. It is like Moses striking a rock with his stick, as the Biblical story tells, and water gushed forth to provide for the people. You can be a change agent supporter for this region of the world that has known drought and starvation for centuries.
